CONSERVATION OPTIONS FOR LANDOWNERS IN STOW
Bob Wilbur, Director of Land Protection, Mass nAudubon, and Stow
resident, provides an overview of the many conservation options
available to owners of scenic space, prime agricultural land, and
significant ecological land, with particular emphasis on the use
of Conservation Restrictions. Interested residents land owners will
gain a better understanding of the menu of choices and the many
and varied benefits to land owners and the town.

RUNNING AN APPLE ORCHARD
Ted Painter offers a guided tour of Shelburne Farm, the oldest Pick
You Own apple orchard in eastern Mass. Learn how the Painters farm
throughout the year so we can enjoy the many varieties of apples in
the Fall. A great opportunity for all ages to see how a conservation
restriction has helped the painters continue to keep Stow's agricultural

IS STOW'S RURAL CHARACTER BEING LOST TO EXCESSIVE LIGHTING?
Greg Toxel and Bill Chiarchiaro (978-562-9842), members of the Planning
Boar's Light Pollution Subcommittee, will discuss light pollution,
how individuals can help, and specific issues in Stow, including current
by-laws. Weather permitting, we'll walk to nearby examples of good
and bad lighting. |

BEEKEEPING UP CLOSE (but not Too Close!)
Come watch as Don Rising starts a hive by adding a package of bees
to a hive. See the parts of a hive (without bees) and learn about
these fascinating social creatures. If bad weather is forecast for
Saturday, the bees will have to go in sooner. Call Don (897-2466)
if you want to be alerted if an earlier hiving of the bees is to
occur.
